Doctors with Disabilities

Dr. Cheri A. Blauwet, a physician in rehabilitation and sports medicine, sustained a spinal cord injury as a child. Since she is one of few physicians who practice from a wheelchair, it’s common for new patients to have some form of reaction when they see she has a disability.

In her article for the New York Times Disability section, Dr. Blauwet says that people with disabilities often distrust the healthcare system, which may be a result of the underrepresentation of doctors with disabilities. Click here to read the full story.

    IT IS VERY ENCOURAGING HEARING FROM A DOCTOR WITH A DISABILITY.I AM ALSO A PERSON WITH DISABILITY USING A WHEEL CHAIR.MY DISABILITY WAS THROUGH POLIO
