In November 2025, Dahlia Swanson was crowned the inaugural Little Miss Wheelchair America for 2026–27, becoming the first child to hold the new national title. The program is an extension of Ms. Wheelchair America, which emphasizes advocacy and achievement by women who use wheelchairs rather than a traditional beauty pageant.
Dahlia previously served as Little Miss Wheelchair Michigan 2025. After she attended the Ms. Wheelchair America national competition that August, the organization invited her to become its first national Little Miss titleholder.
For Dahlia, the title comes with an advocacy role. Her platform, “Play! Learn! Grow!” promotes opportunities for children with and without disabilities to participate together, even when they participate in different ways. When she was crowned, Dahlia said she was looking forward to attending events, meeting people and “advocating.”
Her growing public role has drawn attention from others in the disability community. In an April 2026 article, Help Hope Live content manager Emily Progin described Dahlia as “an athlete, an advocate, and a complete charmer.”
Her own description of what she wants to accomplish is straightforward: “My platform is everyone can do it too, side by side with a disability or not.”
