New Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Factsheet

January 31, 2025

Recent research suggests that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which can develop after a traumatic event, affects up to 60 percent of people living with spinal cord injuries. Symptoms of PTSD include intrusive memories, avoidance of reminders of the traumatic event, and negative changes in mood and thinking.

The Model Systems Knowledge Translation Center (MSKTC) has released a new factsheet on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and spinal cord injury (SCI). The factsheet includes a self-screening test for identifying PTSD, treatment options, resources and information on where to find help.
