Skydiving has led to a new sense of purpose for U.S. Army veteran, Alex Dillman, who became paralyzed after his 2011 deployment in Afghanistan.
After a year‑long inpatient stay at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, he explored adaptive sports—from scuba diving to hand cycling—before discovering skydiving at Skydive City in Zephyrhills, Florida.
The sport offered both the physical challenge and camaraderie he missed, which led him to train for his USPA B license, which required at least 50 jumps and demonstrating strong canopy and freefall skills.
“It wasn’t really until after my injury that saw my potential and how I could push my body,” he says.
He is now a licensed professional skydiver.
