Within the first day, they’re putting you in the chair to go to therapy. And when they first brought in this big old power chair and started moving me into it, I’m thinking “this is temporary.” And then I remember being asked by the therapist what were my goals, and I am thinking to myself, “goals?” And so, I said “I just want to get up” and they kind of gave me that look like, “okay my dear.” And I just couldn’t believe that the condition was permanent. So, all I could think of was how to walk, how to walk, how to walk.
