Accepting the injury. When I went in to have surgery to have a tumor removed, they said “you could go into spinal shock and you might be paralyzed for a week.” By the time I got here, I got here four days after my surgery they didn’t say that I would never walk again. So, the whole time I’m here I was thinking I was going to start walking again, and it didn’t happen. They just kind of kept me going, and teaching me the basics of being in a wheelchair and I was not able to accept the fact that I wasn’t going to walk again.
