Transcript
The occupational therapist helps prepare the person to return to the next phase of their rehabilitation. Rehabilitation stays are so short that it’s critical for the occupational therapist to teach people what they need to know in order to function in their new environment—whether that’s a skilled nursing facility for additional rehabilitation, or if it’s returning home. So if you’re returning home after your injury, the occupational therapist will often be able to do a home visit or do an assessment with accessibility issues and making sure that things are safe and within access for you to be able to function independently.
