I think the idea of remembering that they are a teenager first and that the spinal cord injury is the backdrop of that. But really working with your child to develop the skills, and the knowledge so that they are able to go to school, do all the typical teen things, and you feel as safe as you can that they are competent in either meeting their own caregiving needs or directing their caregiving needs. So giving them the tools so they can be independent.
