I think that all family members need to have a break, and even just as a parent of child that doesn’t have significant health concerns. You need to be able to step away to refresh yourself so you can then get back and give your all. I think we’re also modeling for our children that they can trust other people, that they can allow other people to be a part of their lives, and feel safe. And I think that’s part of the road to independence, encouraging children to feel safe and be able to accept care from other people other than their parents.
